Ramsau am Dachstein has been a regular fixture on the FIS Nordic Combined World Cup calendar since the 1999 Nordic World Ski Championships. The athletes compete on the ski jump and the World Cup trail for highly coveted World Cup points.

The cross-country skiing part of the Nordic Combined takes place on the World Cup trail, which features appropriately steep climbs, fast descents, and tight corner radii. Due to its topography, the wide skating track of the trail is a challenge even for experienced cross-country skiers. Fitting for a World Cup trail, it features steep ascents and fast downhills. The skating loop has a length of 2.5 km and is located between 1,109 and 1,149 m above sea level on the north side of the Kulmberg, directly above the cross-country stadium. The corner radii are sharp and, compared to trails for recreational athletes, relatively tight in order to demand everything technically from the World Cup starters.

When World Cup points are not at stake, you may well meet one or two World Cup stars here preparing for their next competitions.

From the stadium, head out and turn sharp left around the building. Then immediately right again up the first ascent over the cross-country ski underpass and past the Waldschenke towards the ski jumping stadium. After a sharp bend, you head up the long, steep climb and reach the highest point of the trail. After a short flat section, a rapid descent follows and you head out on a short loop towards the west. From the turning point back towards the stadium, you make another 180° turn halfway there and run up a rising left-hand curve below the previous descent. Another descent takes you over to the reservoir. A short loop along the shore and over the last tough climb and the cross-country ski overpass back into the stadium. That was 2.5 km - 70 vertical meters - personal best!

Exit from the Ennstal main road at Schladming-Mitte. Continue to Ramsau-Ort to the car park at the Dachstein Event Zentrum.

Take the buses of the Ramsauer Verkehrsbetriebe from Schladming (also from the train station) on line #960 to Ramsau-Ort.
