Kulmberg Forest Trail
Tour description
The Kulmberg Waldloipe starts at Pension Herold as an extension of the Herold-Loipe and, with a length of just over 4 km, leads from the west side of the Kulmberg to the east side. The trail runs in a wide loop slightly below and directly along the ridge over several easy descents and moderate climbs. Access to this trail is only possible indirectly via the Herold-Loipe and Stadionloipe or from Gasthof Stocker via the Vorbergloipe. The trail thus offers a sporty incentive but is in any case a scenic cross-country skiing delight, where you can enjoy the peace of the forest on the Kulmberg.

The Waldloipe starts at the Herold (E1) junction and leads into the forest, climbing steadily up to the Kulmberg (R) junction. From here, you ski in a wide loop to the east to the Kulmberg Süd (M) junction (connection to the Vorbergloipe) and back along the ridge to the Kulmberg (R) junction. The 3 km loop between the two junctions is also well-suited for repetitions. From the Kulmberg (R) junction, the trail leads back down to the Herold (E1) junction. Via the descent in the forest or the Herold-Loipe, you can return to the Stadionloipe or switch to the Standardloipe WEST at the Kreitseiler (C1) junction.
Exit from the Ennstal Bundesstraße at Schladming-Mitte. Continue to Ramsau-Ort to the car park at the Dachstein Event Zentrum. From here, you start on the Stadionloipe heading west up to the Kreitseiler junction. Via the Rosegger connection (junction D1) or the ascent through the forest, you reach the Herold junction (E1), where the Kulmberg Waldloipe begins.
At the Dachstein Event Zentrum directly next to the cross-country skiing stadium.
With the buses of the Ramsauer Verkehrsbetriebe from Schladming (also from the train station) to:
- Stop Ramsau-Ort - to the start via the Stadionloipe
- Stop Kreitseiler - for a more direct entry about 150 m from the Kreitseiler junction.
