The name says it all for the classic Sonnenloipe. Thanks to its south-facing orientation and its course above the Rössing-Ramsau Ort provincial road, this trail impresses with a sunny cross-country skiing experience and at the same time offers a great view across the Ramsau plateau into the Schladminger Tauern. The trail is not necessarily technically difficult, but it does have a continuous incline that is certainly somewhat challenging for beginners. The Sonnenloipe Ost connects the Alte Mühle junction in Rössing with Ramsau Ort. There, the trail connects to the Sonnenloipe West and the Lärchenwaldloipe. At the Alte Mühle starting point, the trail also meets the Standardloipe Ost and the Rössingloipe.

The Sonnenloipe Ost starts at the Loipeneinstiegspunkt Alte Mühle in Ramsau Rössing. Above the main road, you ski past the farms in the Vordere Ramsau towards Ramsau Ort. To run a nice loop follow:

Sonnenloipe Ost
Lärchenwaldloipe down to the stadium
Stadionloipe to BILLA and
Standardloipe Ost back to the Alte Mühle junction.

Exit from the Ennstal Bundesstraße at Schladming-Mitte. Continue to Ramsau am Dachstein and at the junction towards Rössing proceed to the Alte Mühle cross-country skiing portal. When arriving from the east, access to the portal in Rössing is also possible via Weißenbach bei Haus.

At the "Alte Mühle" car park, directly by the cross-country skiing portal.

Take the Ramsauer Verkehrsbetriebe bus line 960 from Schladming (also from the train station) to Ramsau, Stierer stop. From the Stierer stop, change to line 962 and travel to the Alte Mühle stop.
Alternatively, take line 960 to Ramsau Ort and from there via the Lärchenwaldloipe to the western entry point or via the described cross-country ski trail connection to the entry point Alte Mühle.
