Behaviour in nature

Forest and wild camping in the region With this information, nothing stands in the way of your adventure

In times like these, we appreciate the forest more and more as a place to relax. But what rules need to be observed in the forest and especially when wild camping?

Rules in the forest

  1. Forests may be used for recreational purposes. It is important to pay attention to information and prohibition signs.
  2. Avoid unnecessary noise.
  3. >Always keep dogs on a lead.
  4. Be considerate of the forest inhabitants. We must keep our distance from wild animals and never touch them.
  5. >Take waste (including leftovers) with you and dispose of it properly.
  6. Mushrooms and berries may be collected unless it is a nature reserve (e.g. Riesachtal, Seewigtal, Klafferkessel) or it is expressly prohibited (by prohibition signs).

Wild camping in Styria

In principle, everyone has the right to enter and stay in forests for recreational purposes. However, camping (staying in a certain place for a longer period of time) after dark or camping in the forest is generally prohibited , as is camping with a caravan or spending the night in a vehicle. These activities are only permitted with the consent of the forest owner (in the case of forest roads, the forest road owner).

The so-called "alpine wasteland", i.e. the wasteland above the tree line, is free for tourist traffic and can be entered by anyone. Areas used for agricultural purposes other than grazing (alpine pastures) are excluded from free tourist traffic.

Camping and bivouacking in nature reserves (e.g. Riesachtal, Seewigtal, Klafferkessel) is prohibited by law.

We recommend obtaining permission from the landowner for camping outside of forest and alpine pasture areas.

Campsites

The campsites are characterized by their high standard and comfort, the well-kept ambience and the excellent price-performance ratio.

"I stay on track"

Being outside. Being able to breathe freely again. See the beauty. Feel nature up close. There are many reasons to love the Styrian mountains! Enthusiasm for nature has increased enormously in recent years. Outdoor exercise is the trend. Sport and recreation in nature are good for body and soul - but at the same time we also need to be aware of how important it is to preserve and protect our Styrian nature. One thing counts above all: consideration.
