Tetter Moor
Natural Reserves
Data:
Tour description
The Tettermoor in Untertal is a natural gem and a special place of tranquility for those seeking peace and quiet. After prolonged rainfall – and also during the spring snowmelt – the Tettermoor temporarily transforms into the so-called "Tettersee," which serves an important flood protection function for the village of Untertal and the mountain town of Schladming. In and around the Tettermoor, you can discover many rare plant species that have adapted specifically to the siliceous, low-lime conditions. A distinctive feature of the moor's flora is the so-called brown sedge community. The Tettermoor is also the perfect place for you to take a few barefoot steps along the Untertalbach stream, which meanders through the moorland.
If you are passionate about fishing, the area around the Tettermoor is also ideal, especially for fly fishing. You can obtain the necessary permits directly from the Gasthof Tetter inn.
