This beautiful winter hike is located in the Planai mountain station, Märchenwiese and Lärchkogel area. It offers perfect views of the Ramsau plateau and the Dachstein massif, for example. This trip to the Planai is also ideal for meeting friends who are skiing on the Planai and then having lunch together in one of the ski huts along the winter hiking trail. Numerous play stations along the circular trail offer plenty of variety for younger guests. The walking time is approx. 1 hour and the trail can be accessed with or without a winter hiking ticket.

The Planai main cable car takes you directly from Schladming to the mountain station. The pedestrian tunnel leads to the Hopsi Express, which takes guests to the Kasalm. From there, continue towards the Märchenwiesenhütte, where the approximately 2-kilometre-long circular trail begins, offering numerous exciting play stations for children. Along the way, they can experience adventures in a North American teepee, discover the surrounding mountains through a giant telescope or try out their climbing skills on the big spider in ‘Australia’. Halfway along the trail is the Lärchkogelhütte, which invites you to stop for a short break and refreshments. The return journey then takes you back to the valley via the Hopsi Express, the pedestrian tunnel and the gondola.

From federal highway B320 take exit "Schladming-Ost". Continue to the roundabout (Spar/Salewa Mountain Shop) and take the 3rd exit towards "Zentrum" (town center). At the following roundabout again take the 3rd exit, which will take you directly to the valley terminal of Planai cable-car at Planai stadion. From there, take the cable-car to the top of Planai.Parking is available at the valley terminal of Planai cable-car.

In the town of Schladming you can take the Citybus. From Rohrmoos take the Planai buses to Planet Planai, from Ramsau take the buses of Ramsauer Verkehrsbetriebe. From Planet Planai, take the cable-car to the top of Planai.

Good winter shoes, warm clothing, tuque, and gloves. You might also want to carry a small backbag with a warm drink in a thermos jug.
