The 40-km route winds its way through the winter landscape of Ramsau am Dachstein, combining a sporting challenge with stunning views of the Dachstein massif.
There are plenty of parking spaces available right by the start area in Ramsau am Dachstein! Just follow the signs on site and save yourself the hassle of looking for a parking space.
Tip: Allow plenty of time for your journey so that you arrive at the start feeling relaxed and can concentrate fully on the race!
The Dachsteinlauf is a cross-country skiing event in Ramsau am Dachstein and is one of the sporting highlights of the Nordic winter season in the Schladming-Dachstein region. The event combines the spirit of mass-participation cross-country skiing with a varied programme for all ability levels – from the 40-km main race, through the 10-km race and the team competition, to the children’s race and the Dachstein culinary run.
At the Dachsteinbad, shower, changing rooms and a cloakroom are available from 08:00, where you can safely store your personal belongings whilst the races are taking place.
It takes place on Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 to 15:00 at the Red Angus restaurant – below the World Cup stadium.
You’ll receive your token when you collect your race number.
The Dachstein Culinary Run is a 5-km fun run with no official timing. Along the route, refreshment stations offer regional specialities for participants to enjoy.
Yes. In the Kids Race, children and young people compete in different age groups over age-appropriate distances in a mass start.
Yes. The 10 km and 40 km events will be held in both skating and classic styles. The skating races will take place on Saturday, and the classic races on Sunday.
On Saturday and Sunday, refreshment stations will be set up at the following locations:

- Walcherhof
- Alpenbad
- Brandlhof
- Start/finish area
Beginners are in good hands with the 10-km run or the fun run. Those looking for a sporting challenge can tackle the 40-km route. For children, the Kids Race offers the ideal introduction to cross-country skiing.
The Dachstein Run will generally go ahead even in winter weather conditions. Should any changes to the programme be necessary, these will be announced in good time on the website and via the official channels.
Race number collection will take place at the Dachstein Event Centre:
Friday, 15 January 2027 / 4.00 pm to 7.00 pm
Saturday, 16 January 2027 / 7.30 am to 9.30 am
Saturday, 16 January 2027, 1.30 pm to 2.30 pm
Sunday, 17 January 2027, 7.30 am to 9.30 am
The race number is valid for both days and can be taken home as a souvenir (except for race numbers for the Fun Run).
Please return the race numbers for the Fun Run to the staff handing out the medals upon arrival at the finish line.
To ensure you can finish the Dachsteinlauf race even if your pole breaks on the course, replacement equipment is available at the service points.
A team consists of at least four people. For the purposes of the rankings, the times of the four fastest team members are added together. A group discount applies from the fifth team member onwards.
A waxing service provided by Starter Wachse, HWK and Holmenkol will be available in the Expo Area on Saturday and Sunday from 07:00.
The Dachstein Run offers a choice of a 40-km route, a 10-km route, a 10-km team run, the Kids’ Race and the 5-km Dachstein Culinary Run. This means that both beginners and experienced cross-country runners can find the right event for them.
Most of the programme events take place in and around the Ramsau am Dachstein World Championships Cross-Country Skiing Stadium. Individual events, such as the mountain hut evening, are held at selected venues in Ramsau.
Yes. Spectators are very welcome and can watch the competitions and enjoy the varied programme of events.
