"The Caruso of his genre" Joseph O'Connor "The man with the goosebump voice" ORF Kultur

with: Seán Keane (vocals, flute, whistles, harmonica), Fergus Feely (mandocello, vocals) and Pat Coyne (guitar, vocals)

SEÁN KEANE grew up in the "living tradition" of Irish music, where music was part of everyday life from an early age, like the daily cup of tea. - He hails from Caherlistrane, Co. Galway, in the West of Ireland, where he began to make a name for himself in the All Ireland Fleadh Ceoil competitions, winning 13 titles in as many years as a singer.

Before embarking on his solo career in 1994, he played in a number of bands including REEL UNION, SHEGUI and the supergroup ARCADY, with whom he toured worldwide. He also appears in the theater in Brian Merriman's "The Midnight Court" in a musical adaptation of Druid and in the Abbey production of Tom McIntyre's "Sheep's Milk On The Boil".

His first solo CD "All Heart, No Roses" is voted "Debut Album Of The Year" by the important British Q-MAGAZINE as "Debut Album Of The Year" in the roots category and is well received by both the media and the public. In April 1996 "Turn A Phrase" is released. With this CD, SEÁN KEANE further consolidates his position as one of Ireland's leading singers. "No Stranger" is released in Ireland in July 1998 on the GRAPEVINE label and receives so much media attention that the album remains in the Top 20 for over five weeks and is awarded double "platinum" in Ireland due to its extremely high sales figures. The CD is produced by JIM ROONEY (Dolly Parton) both in Galway and in Nashville, with Irish and American musicians (e.g. Nanci Griffith) involved in the recordings.

In the meantime, the Irish singer has released a further seven top-class albums - "The Man That I Am", "Seánsongs", "Valley Of The Heart", "A Portrait 1", "A Portrait 2", "You Got Gold", "An Irish Scattering" (+DVD) and "Never Alone" - and has gained a considerable, constantly growing fan base.

SEÁN KEANE's songs are difficult to categorize. His trademark is his unmistakable voice and his very own, extremely likeable performance style. Coming from traditional Irish music, his repertoire includes old and new, traditional and contemporary songs.
