Sarah Kattih, Hamburg

After Georg Kreisler

Whether in Basel, Geneva or Zurich, in New York, Las Vegas or Los Angeles. Again and again it is said: "Tonight: Lola Blau!"

Expelled and deported, as the "unwanted" of her time, the young Jewish show-actress from Vienna is climbing her way up the career ladder every evening to the sad Olympus of loneliness. She sings, plays and screams her way into the hearts of the audience, as well as onto/over/under the carpets, tables and beds of the directors. From 1938 in Vienna to 1946 in New York, only the memory of Leo and the whiskey remain faithful to her in the countless hotel rooms and theater dressing rooms. Back in Europe she has to realize: "Tralala, that's life! - You sit down, but you always sit down next to it..."

Hamburg actress Sarah Kattih slips into the role of Lola Blau and sings, plays and screams. Her Lola seduces you to laugh and cry, she touches your heart and brain - she invites you to think and think some more. Sarah Kattih is accompanied by violinist Matthias Brommann, who has arranged the chansons for violin and viola for this production. Georg Kreisler's "one-woman musical" was written in 1970 and premiered in Vienna a year later. His chansons are intelligent, wicked and always poetic - touchingly comedic and frighteningly topical.
