Ramsau am Dachstein

The Ice Palace presents you with a mystical world created from ice and snow deep inside the glacier. Marvel six meters below the eternal ice at the exhibition Up the Mountains!

Created in 2007, the Ice Palace promises astonishment by showing off meticulous cut figures, ice pillars as well as a crystal dome.

The Ice Palace is only three minutes away from the top station and is opened daily. To get to the Ice Palace, you have to cross the suspension bridge!

Dogs are not allowed in the ice palace!

Up to the mountains

Since January 2022 we take you on an icy journey - up to the mountains!

Our ice palace team, consisting of Hans Böhmer and Peter Strassegger, has been working diligently on the completion of the ice figures together with the sculpture team around Michael Bachnetzer.

The journey through the eternal glacier ice begins at the first T-bar lift and leads the visitors via the climber, who climbs the Dachstein for the first time, to the summit cross with mountain greeting. A mountain biker or an ibex are also carved in detail from ice.

Of course, the anniversary "50 years Planai-Hochwurzen Bahnen" with its own stadium under this motto may not be missing!

The Dachstein Ice Palace took 2021 through a journey through time in history!
Well-known milestones were carved in detail from ice.

The journey through the eternal glacier ice began with the dinosaur and leads visitors over the first moon landing to the prehistoric man. Even milestones like the light bulb or the locomotive could be marveled at.
