Ramsau am Dachstein

The Austriahütte is a hut of the Austria section of the ÖAV. It is beautifully situated at 1638 m at the foot of the Dachstein. The hut was built in 1880 and is thus the oldest existing alpine hut of the Dachstein and it houses the highest situated museum in Styria.

Opening hours summer 2019: 

From the beginning of July to the beginning of winter (from 13 October only open Friday to Sunday). 

Only cash payment is possible at the hut.

Special exhibition: Hut architecture Styria’s highest museum depicts the geological creation of the mighty Dachstein Massif, with rock samples, fossils and research findings on display. Documentation of how the Dachstein was first conquered, history of mountain rescue and construction of the lift on the Dachstein south face.

Meeting point

From Schladming via Ramsau to the base terminus of the Dachstein cable lift, approx. 30 min.
