The only archaeological path in the upper Ennstal has opened its gates. Visitors can follow a tour through a late Roman retreat settlement. Road signs and explanatory plaques tell about life almost 2000 years ago. An escape castle was built on the Burgstall near the Gasthof Burgstaller in Rössing-Ramsau to protect against hostile raids during the beginning of the Migration Period. Excavations have provided rich evidence of life in this settlement. Remains of house walls and finds from everyday life document an active settlement in the late Roman period. This listed archaeological site can be reached on foot in 5 minutes from Gasthof Burgstaller. The one-hour hike from Weißenbach near Haus over the wildly romantic Luserwasserfallweg up to Burgstaller is particularly recommendable. So you can enjoy culture and nature on a family-friendly hike.
