Ruin "Ägydiuskirche"

St. Ägydius lived around 700 and founded the Benedictine monastery in St. Gilles in France. All former Aegydius churches, as well as the church at Ilgenberg, are situated on important trade routes and are on the outskirts of each village. It was not until the 15th century that Ägydius became a national saint when he was admitted to the group of "fourteen emergency helpers".
