3,000 meters of freedom
The Dachstein is one of the most visited excursion destinations in Styria. No wonder - after all, it is the first glacier in the Alps from the east. Even the ascent with the Dachstein Glacier Railway is an experience: you climb 1,000 metres and float close to steep rock faces. Arrived at 2,700 metres above sea level, you will enjoy a fantastic panorama with hundreds of mountain peaks.
The numerous highlights on the Dachstein glacier such as Sky Walk, Ice Palace, Super Park, Glacier Restaurant, Via Ferrata and much more are easily accessible for visitors with the new Dachstein "Panorama Gondola". In the new gondola, which is made of glass all around, the Dachstein massif appears to be within reach.
A newly erected suspension bridge is around 2,700 metres high, 100 metres long and with a gradient of twelve percent along the rugged mountain walls. For particularly daring visitors to the roof of Styria there is another attraction: the "stairway to nowhere" is intended to live up to its name. It rises above the south wall and leads down into a glass viewing pulpit.
