The tour
Perfect for the start of the season: this easy ski tour takes you from the mountain station of the Dachstein Glacier over a well-prepared and marked ski path in the direction of the Dachsteinwarte and back, and is possible from October. With good snow conditions, numerous variants are possible on the descent. In autumn and when there is little fresh snow, pay attention to the crevasses away from the prepared piste track.
Turn-by-turn directions

Ascent: this ski tour starts directly at the Dachstein Gondola Mountain Station. From there,  it is best to follow the groomed and marked ski trail towards the Dachsteinwarte. You can often do this tour from October. Careful: glacier area - pay attention to crevasses. In case of unsafe conditions stay on the ski trail.

Descent: same as ascent. In good snow conditions, many variations on the glaciers are possible. Beware of crevasses!

Equipment

To go on a tour without proper preparation and equipment is reckless. Not only your own life is easily risked, but also that of your fellow mountaineers in the same region.

Must-haves: avalanche transceiver, mobile phone, shovel, avalanche probe, first aid kit, sufficient food and drinks, possibly additional clothing to change.

On the day of the tour: Read the avalanche situation report and weather forecast and check what effects it will have on your planned ski tour: possibly adjust or cancel the ski tour. Are all participants fit and healthy enough to go on the tour? If not, change or cancel the ski tour.
