easy Hiking · Ramsau am Dachstein
From our starting point this round tour takes us past "Ramsau Beach" recreation park at the foot of Rittisberg and from there to its summit. Following a scenic trail descending from the summit we pass by the typical mountain huts of Sonnenalm and Halseralm and walk back to the starting point.
From the trail head at pension Arnika in Vorberg you walk through the forest to Greimelbacherhof farm and from there continue on the road until you reach "Mooshäusl" where you make a left turn and hike along the fairytale trial up to Rittisstadl inn (IVV check point) on Rittisberg. Along the ridge you continue to the summit of Rittisberg with its beautiful wodden cross from where you enjoy the marvelous view of the Dachstein massif.
From the summit you descend towards Sonnenalm (IVV check point), which is a popular place to stop for a bite to eat - just as is Halseralm which awaits you a couple of minutes more along the trail. Along trail n° 5 you walk along the edge of the forest until you reach the Greimelbacherhof farm again. From there you take back the trail you already know to the trail head at Pension Arnika.

Changes in weather patterns, quick falls in temperature, thunderstorms, wind, fog and snow are some of the dangers that can be encountered on a hiking tour. Hosts of alpine huts and mountain refuges have a lot of experience in the mountains and can give good advice about weather and the trails. Poor equipment, overestimation of one's own capabilities, carelessness, poor personal constitution and/or wrong judgement can lead to critical situations. In case of thunderstorms: avoid summits, ridges and steel ropes.
GPS data and orientation
Available GPS data - just like hiking maps - is only a guidance for orientation and can never depict a trail exactly with all its details. Especially at dangerous spots it is essential to judge on site how to proceed.
