Info & information: Michaelerberghaus +43 3685/22566
100m east of the station Gröbming, between a hall and a small settlement, you go southwards across a hill, cross the streets and after a short, smooth meadow you cross a steep slope diagonally to the right side uphill. After about 850m the meadows along a disused slope are groomed by a farmer until the Michaelerberghaus.
From the Michaelerberghaus it goes on via the summer hiking paths no. 23 and 22. Instead of the branch to the right side towards the Loskögerl, you follow the way eastwards to the Riestörl (1650m).
The last metres to the Riestörl lead downwards but there is frequently another trail, which leads steeply right-hand sided uphill to the summit. Otherwise you can follow the summer check marks, to which new ski check marks were added. The last 100m across the steep north-east ridge require prudent trails, to come to the windy summit.
Inexperienced tourers are strongly advised to join up with a knowledgeable local guide. In addition, you should never attempt any tour without the “Holy Trinity” of personal safety equipment: avalanche transponder, shovel and a probe. A helmet and possibly an airbag system are also recommended under certain circumstances.
