The tour

Far away from civilization, you will explore the most beautiful and comfortable walks on your snowshoes. Immersing yourself into a deeply snowed-in mountain world, you will hear the crisp sound of snow with every step you take into this pristine natural landscape. Here, you will follow the old paths the minors used hundreds of years ago: untouched, natural, unique.

The more exposed the route is, the more familiar you need to be with the area. You will also require good mountaineering knowledge to be able to handle the high-alpine terrain.

Turn-by-turn directions

This snowshoeing tour starts from Gasthof Edelbrunn or the Dachsteinstraße, at the forestry road below Glösalm. At first, a gentle ascent will lead you uphill for approx. 1.5 km. The path will lead you to the vantage point “Röttelstein”. Follow a prominent right turn to the lookout Torstein, Mitterspitz, Dachstein and start your descent to Glösalm. From there, you can either take the bus to Ramsau or walk uphill, along the street (ca. 400 m), to join the Snowshoe Trail via Schlitzenalm back to Ramsau.
