The Fairytale Trail

Due to renovation work at the Hotel Schwaigerhof in Rohrmoos, it is recommended to start the circular route from the Hochwurzen valley station. From here follow the route signs past the Hotel Waldfrieden to the Alpstegerhof and there along the dirt road north to the Rapunzel station and here west along the fairytale path. Access to the first station in the direction of Schwaigerhof is also possible, but after that the path is closed due to the construction site.
A loop trail filled with lots of lovely ideas for the whole family. Discover the fairytale characters along the trail and get excited with various playground equipment.
The trail is made up of a wide forest and meadow trail with only slight ascent and descents, and it is suitable for buggies. Along the way there are serveral possibilities where you can stop for a drink or a small snack: Hotel Schwaigerhof, Tauernalm and Familienhotel Austria.

- The trail - suitable for prams takes you past Apart & Suiten Hotel Weiden and Hotel Schwaigerhof and leads you via a series of lovingly created fairy-tale figures and pieces of play equipment to the “Witch’s House”.
From there, you walk up to Haus Strobl via 2 switchbacks. Once there, follow the Lans-Strobl-Weg to the left as far as Rohrmoosstraße. Take the sidewalk along the road downhill to Haus Primps, and after another 200 meters cross the street and follow the forest lane (in winter a ski piste) to the valley terminal of Gipfelbahn Hochwurzen cable car. Here you also have the possibility to continue on the "Mushroom Trail".
From the valley terminal pass by Familienhotel Austria and then continue on the lovely meadow trail left of Hotel Waldfrieden. Over a couple of meadows you get back to Hotel Schwaigerhof and the trail head where you started.
With the Planai buses from Schladming (Planet-Planai, Lendplatz) or Rohrmoos (Rohrmoos-Zentrum) to Rohrmoos - bus stop "Schwaigerhof". Alternatively continue to the valley terminal of "Gipfelbahn Hochwurzen" cable car.

Parking is available at the turnoff of "Schwaigerweg" road.
Please do not use the parking of the hotels nearby. If no parking is available, use the alternative starting point at the valley terminal of Gipfelbahn Hochwurzen cable car - there is plenty of parking there.
Hiking or trekking shoes with grip sole, jacket.
The trail is also suitable for prams.
- Don't forget your lunch box :) along the trail you'll find numerous possibilities for a picnic.
The small supermarket "Kaufhaus Sieder" in Rohrmoos offers a special picnic rucksack if you like! - Alternatively you may start the tour at the valley terminal of Gipfelbahn Hochwurzen cable car.
