New 8-seater chairlift Mitterhaus
Under the motto “Skiing in Paradise”, the Planai-Hochwurzen-Bahnen are currently building Styria’s second 8-seater chairlift in the Mitterhaus region, also benefiting the region as a whole.
The new cableway increases the attraction of the winter paradise with guaranteed snow. The visitors find themselves in the “skiing heaven” on earth, at latest when carving across the 250 m wide piste. And the “Paradise” theme also accompanies skiers visually: Adam, Eve, Tree of Knowledge….you will be astonished.
The existing ski tow will be replaced by the most efficient 8-seater chairlift in Styria, transporting 3 200 persons per hour. And the lift naturally also features comforts such as weather protection hoods and heated seats.
New reservoir in the Weitmoos/ Märchenwiese region
The Planai snow making plant for the racing slopes must be improved and enlarged in preparation for the 2013 World Championships. It is also of vital importance to Planai that the remaining piste surfaces, not required for the World Championships, are upgraded to remain attractive for public skiing.
As one of the first skiing regions to do so, the Planai-Bahnen are implementing so-called “eco-friendly snow management”, allowing the exact volume of snow to be produced fast – just enough to guarantee optimal snow coverage. From the Weitmoos reservoir, the water is fed to where it is needed for the production of artificial snow. As such, it is possible to produce a basic layer of artificial snow at the Planai peak within 48 hours. The newly built pumping station will, in addition, be capable of producing 1 500 m3 of snow per hour (equivalent to 150 truck loads).
