Scheiblingstein Climbing Garden
Character: The Scheiblingstein was ignored by the local climbers for years, with a few exceptions, until Michi Gruber and his team from mountain-unlimited took it on. Within a very short time, more than 28 sport climbing routes were created in the best Dachstein limestone and with probably the most grandiose view of the Dachstein south walls up to the Niedere and Hohe Tauern.
Starting point: the valley station of the Dachstein glacier cable car, Südwandhütte
Approach: On the marked hiking trail comfortably in about 35 minutes to the Dachstein Südwandhütte. From there follow the signposted path to the Johann via ferrata (red dots). Follow this path to the large scree field of the Scheiblingstein, from where a new small climb leads up to the foot of the wall. (board: climbing garden)
Difficulty: from 3 to the upper 9 degrees
Equipment: rockfall helmet!!!, 50 better 60 meters single rope, 10 to 12 quickdraws
Exposure: southwest, shady in the morning, long sun in the evening
