"Otello must not burst"

Cleveland, in the 1930s: The irritable opera director Saunders, his enchanting daughter Maggie and his loyal assistant Max wait impatiently in a hotel suite for the arrival of Tito Merelli, the most famous opera tenor of his time. He is due to sing the title role in "Otello" at the Cleveland Opera today, which almost throws the whole town into a joyous uproar.

Dolce vita with consequences ...

But even a tenor is just a man who succumbs too easily to the temptations of good food, wine and, of course, the ladies. And so it comes as it must: The opera hero has overextended himself, gets problems with his stomach and, much worse for the tender-hearted artist, with his extremely temperamental wife who has traveled with him. He can't go on stage. Events come thick and fast, because "Otello" simply cannot be allowed to burst, the house is sold out and everyone wants to hear Merelli! But where to find a tenor now?
